SKILLING QUEENSLANDERS FOR WORK

In the aftermath of the Timor Independence turmoil in 2002, BTC Cooperative Limited was approached by a local community member to develop a Work for the Dole project to build a fishing dory, which would then be sent to East Timor. The project resulted in BTC participants building two 17ft dories from scratch. This included reading the plans, determining the material requirements, lofting the boat, and epoxy finishing all the joints and finally launching the dory.
